Maria Caulfield MP has welcomed Conservative Party Chairman, Amanda Milling MP, to Newhaven to show her how government funding is helping to regenerate the town.
Amanda Milling and Maria Caulfield spent time at Newhaven Football Club, which is to benefit from the nearly £20 million Town Deal with a new 4G artificial pitch. While there the MPs visited Surf N Skate to discuss owner Morgan’s plans for making the skate park a better and safer place for local young people with flood lighting.
Following this the Conservative Party Chairman was taken to visit local fisherman Martin Yorwarth to discuss a bid to the government’s Levelling Up Fund which is aiming to give a boost to the local fishing industry. If successful this will see new stages built, a fish processing plant, and a fish restaurant at the West Beach, enabling local people and visitors the chance to enjoy the fishermen’s catch and give them a new place to sell to locally.
Maria Caulfield MP said “Ministers across many departments in Westminster know how much I talk about our plans for regenerating Newhaven and so I was delighted to bring Conservative Party Chairman Amanda Milling MP down here to show her the difference that funding from the Conservative government is making in Newhaven. It has also given me another chance to show how further funding can really help support our fishing industry and help regenerate Newhaven.”
