Douglas has known Willingdon all his life and following two previous generations of his family, now lives here. He is semi-retired and takes an active role in Willingdon as Parish Councillor serving on the Planning, Amenities and Finance Committees, as well as on Personnel, SD4 and Parish Office Development. He has campaigned for alleviating the traffic problems on the A2270 and a new dual carriageway from Polegate to Lewes.
Douglas is the Chairman of Willingdon & Jevington Conservatives and the ex-Chair of the Eastbourne Conservative Association, supports local and international charities and remains involved in business having run offices in London and New York.
A keen walker on the Downs, with a lifelong interest in gardening, Douglas is concerned with the environment and the sustainability of the community. He is particularly eager to retain the rural, green character of Willingdon.
His interests are broad and range through current affairs, scientific development to enjoying and supporting the arts. He has participated in sporting activities, competitively running in mini-marathons in New York & London, swimming, playing water polo and skiing.
