"Our response starts now" by Leader of East Sussex County Council
"At midnight East Sussex will join the rest of England under strict new Covid restrictions. I know this will be very difficult for many of us, for our families and businesses.
"I'd like to assure you that we will work together to protect and support each other. In this newsletter we outline how we expect some of our services to change and where you can look for support if needed.
"All of us can work together on a response which brings the virus down. Stay at home if you can, keep a distance and protect each other when you have to go out. This is a moment which really matters. Thank you."

How will your services change?
- Libraries will close from tomorrow but we hope to run a click and collect service from Monday 9 November and bookings for urgent computer sessions.
- Register offices will not offer weddings or civil partnerships. Births and deaths can be registered by phone and by appointment. Citizenship ceremonies will be online.
- Household waste sites (tips) will remain open.
- Schools, nurseries and colleges will remain open.
All changes will apply until at least 2 December (if agreed by Parliament today as expected).

Where can you get support?
If you are classed as clinically extremely vulnerable to coronavirus (often people who were previously advised to shield for medical reasons) you will soon receive a letter from the Government providing guidance. You can also find this guidance about how to stay safe online.

East Sussex and Covid-19: latest updates
Cases of Covid-19 are rising in East Sussex - with the last seven days showing 72 per 100,000 population. Every age group is affected.
This rate is below the England average of 226 cases per 100,000 but is still of great concern. Actions we take now will affect the course of the virus.
