Lewes MP Maria Caulfield has been appointed Minister of State for Health in the Department for Health and Social Care.
Previously Maria Caulfield MP was a Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, with responsibility for Primary Care and Patient Safety, having been appointed on 17th September 2021.
The specialist cancer nurse quickly gained a reputation as a hardworking Minister who was on top of her brief, making her the ideal person to fill the number two position within the Department of Health and Social Care.
Maria Caulfield MP said “I am pleased to have been appointed Minister of State for Health and will continue the work I began in the Department when first made Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in September last year. As someone who still regularly works shifts as a cancer nurse I know what is needed for our NHS to make sure it is the best it can be for patients and staff alike.
“I will, of course, continue to work hard in my role as a constituency MP for Lewes, tackling the big issues faced by local residents such as regenerating Newhaven, improving transport links across the area, and tackling the cost of living.”
