Have you got a brilliant policy idea?
Do you have a brilliant policy idea you'd like to share at Spring Forum? The Conservative Policy Forum is running a Policy Pitch competition, showcasing some of the best new ideas from the membership. This is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of challenges our country faces, be they big or small, and propose solutions to the national convention.
Proposers of the best ideas will be invited to present their proposals for debate at Spring Forum. A final vote by all attendees at the debate will determine which policy pitch wins. The winner will subsequently be given the opportunity to discuss their proposal with a relevant minister.
To find out more, visit www.conservativepolicyforum.com. To take part, write your policy idea in no more than 250 words and send it to [email protected] by Monday 30th March. Please note, successful applicants will need to attend the conference and will have a maximum of two minutes to present their pitch.

John Penrose: Grassroots Tories, the Conservative Policy Forum needs you
The next five years could redefine Britain for a generation at least. Brexit will create an inflection point for our country; a moment of change at least as big and important as the one faced by the post-war Attlee Government that founded the NHS and the modern welfare state.
So where will our next set of big, era-defining ideas come from? What will our generation leave to our children and grandchildren, to match the NHS and the welfare state?
The Conservative Policy Forum (CPF), the Party’s internal think-tank (which I chair), stands ready to play its part in finding them. We regularly ask Conservative members what they think about key policy areas, tapping into the collective wisdom and experience of the Tory crowd on everything from health, education, and policing to foreign policy and defence.

Idea for a flexible state pension
Cilla Long:
The idea come from the following facts:
1) our current pension pot is limited.
2) we have a larger number of people claiming or planing to claim pensions
3) mental health issues related to loneliness and isolation increases when people retire.
My idea is to stagger pensions
60yrs offer to reduce the working week by 1 day depending on job and persons ability to do the job, at the same time giving either 1/5 of their pension. This is a choice.
65yrs offer to further reduce days either 1 or 2 days and increase to 2/5 or 3/5 of pension (still a choice, and depending on the persons ability to do the job).
70yrs offer to further reduce 1 or 2 days and receive the part pension until they chose to give up work. ... Read more from this post on our website
Swap in/out electric car batteries in garages
Jason Woodruff:
Most people do not have access to charge their cars at home. Remote charging points are few, they are always occupied by fully charged cars and do not really fast charge. So why don't we force car companies to standardise the battery size and its connections and allow for them to be robotically swapped at a garage just like you fill up with fuel. In this way the battery is hired so the car can be cheaper, charging times are minimal, you reuse garage infrastructure which could also charge the batteries by solar. This solution would allow todays 2035 target for getting rid of petrol cars.
A new manifesto to rescue the natural world
Simon Lamb
There can be little doubt that almost everywhere the natural world is in a state of rapid decline and that this is due almost entirely to destructive economic activity. The environment's darkest hour is yet to come - things will inevitably get worse before they get better almost whatever we do, but it's never too late to turn the wheel and now is the perfect opportunity for the Conservative Party to step up to the plate and lead - not just the country - but the world in creating a new economic paradigm that values, protects and enhances Nature instead of destroying it. At the moment the natural world is treated abysmally by economic forces because that's where most economic incentives lead. However we can change this by making doing the right thing by Nature more profitable than the wrong, and that of course includes GHG emissions.... Read more from this post on our website
